Happy Karaoke Fun Time is a musically improvised show where improv and Karaoke come together to create a world in which scenes explode into popular songs you’ll recognize with lyrics you won’t, made up entirely on the spot!
Philip Markle, Creator
Philip started Happy Karaoke Fun Time while working out to Lady Gaga one day, and making up a song about cucumbers to the tune of “Pokerface.” He loves to improvise and has had a habit of breaking out into song since he was 10 years old. He’s a member of The Deltones – the house musical improv team at iO and performs at The Annoyance and with Second City Theatricals. Outside of Improv, he is the Associate Director of the Actors Training Center (which he helped create three years ago) where he teaches students 3rd-12th grade acting, improv, and storytelling. And his greatest joy is being an enthusiastic member of Barrel of Monkeys (a performing arts group turning kids’ stories into skits and songs) and a proud graduate of Northwestern University.
